In isothermal process, which of the following is not true?

    A)  Temperature remains constant

    B)  Internal energy does not change

    C)  No heat enters or leaves the system

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

If during a process taking place in a system the temperature remains constant, then the process is isothermal. In case of an ideal gas. the internal energy depends only upon the temperature of the gas. Therefore, if an ideal gas undergoes an isothermal process, there will be no change in internal energy. While if during a process taking place in a system heat neither enters the system nor leaves it then process is termed adiabatic.
