  • question_answer
A certain sample of gas has a volume of 0.2 L measured at 1 atm pressure and\[0{}^\circ C\]. At the same pressure but\[273{}^\circ C,\] its volume will be:

    A)  0.4 L

    B)  0.8 L

    C)  27.8 L

    D)  55.6 L

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                     Key Idea: Problem is solved on the basis of Charle?s law\[\frac{{{V}_{1}}}{{{T}_{1}}}=\frac{{{V}_{2}}}{{{T}_{2}}}\] Given\[{{V}_{1}}=0.2L,{{V}_{2}}=?,{{T}_{1}}=273\,K,{{T}_{2}}=467\,K\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{{{V}_{1}}}{{{T}_{1}}}=\frac{{{V}_{2}}}{{{T}_{2}}}\] Or           \[\frac{0.2}{273}=\frac{{{V}_{2}}}{476}\] \[\therefore \]  \[{{V}_{2}}=\frac{476\times 0.2}{273}=0.4\,L\]
