    Pacemaker is:

    A)  AV node

    B)  SA node

    C)  bundle of His

    D)  Purkinje fibres

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

'Pacemaker? is the name given to the bundle of modified cardiac muscles which influences the heart beat. The muscle fibre of SA node (Sinu Atrial node) possess the highest rhythmicity among all cardiac muscle fibres and can intiate excitory waves or heart beat at the highest rate. So, SA node is the pacemaker which initiates each cardia cycle and thereby sets the basic pace of the heart beat. AV node (Atrio Ventricular node) is another contraction node or the other part of conducting system in mammals which shows rhythmicity after spreading of impulse over the atria to reach AV node. After reaching to AV node, cardiac impulse runs along the AV bundle, called as bundle of His and then passes to its branches and Purkinje fibres to reach the ventricular muscle fibres.
