DNA element with ability 10 change its position, is called:

    A)  caisson

    B)  transposon

    C)  intron

    D)  recon

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Transposon is a DNA segment or gentic element moving from one chromosome to another. The 'term', was introduced by R.W. Hedges and A.E. Jacob in 1974, to 'controlling elements' or 'Jumping genes', discovered by Barbara Me Clintock (1983) in maize. Cistron is the functional unit of DNA molecule, it codes for a particular gene product. Recon is the cross-over unit or it is segment of DNA which participates in crossing over. 'Intron's are the interrupted genes or those regions of a gene which do not form the part of m-RNA and are removed from primary m-RNA during gene expression in eukaryotes. These are non-coding sequences which get removed during splicing and processing.
