    A)  increase soil fertility

    B)  decrease soil erosion

    C)   decrease soil fertility

    D)  decrease water loss

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Crop rotation is the agronomic practice of sowing different crops, usually legume and non-legume, in successive seasons on the same piece of field for maintaining soil fertility. So, The rotation of a non-legume plant by a legume, a nitrogen fixer, maintains the nitrogen economy of soil. Since, fertility of soil depends upon the mineral and humus content of soil as also on its hydration and aeration and crop rotation is the practice which preferably maintains the mineral level (N2-status) of the soil. So, is a biological method of soil conservation which increases soil fertility.
