  • question_answer
The\[(x,\text{ }y,\text{ }z)\]co-ordinates of two points A and B are given respectively as (0,3, -1) and (-2, 6, 4). The displacement vector form A to B may be given by:

    A)  \[-2\hat{i}+6\hat{j}+4\hat{k}\]

    B)  \[-2\hat{i}+3\hat{j}+3\hat{k}\]

    C)   \[-2\hat{i}+3\hat{j}+5\hat{k}\]

    D)  \[2\hat{i}-3\hat{j}-5\hat{k}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

                     Let\[A\equiv (0,3,-1)\]and \[B\equiv (-2,6,4)\] \[\overrightarrow{A}=3\hat{j}-\hat{k}\]and \[\overrightarrow{B}-2\hat{j}+6\hat{j}+4\hat{k}\] The displacement vector from A to B                 \[=\overrightarrow{B}-\overrightarrow{A}\]                 \[=(-2\hat{i}+6\hat{j}+4\hat{k})-(3\hat{j}-\hat{k})\]                 \[=-2\hat{i}+3\hat{j}+5\hat{k}\]
