                     Appendages of some fruits and some seeds help them to remain in air for 'longer time and disperse at a good distance by acting as Parachute. e.g, (i) In many plants of family Compositae (eg, Sonchu5, Taraxacum etc.), the calyx is modified into a persistant hair-like structures called pappus which open out in a umbrella-like fashion and help them to float in air. (ii) In many plants (eg, cotton, Calotropis)seeds have tufts of hairs attached to them.
