                     Leydig cells are endocrine in nature present in  testes of mammals. These cells in other vertebrates except mammals are known as interstitial  cells. So,  these  cells are characteristic of testes of mammals. These cells secrete male sex hormone testosterone, which in fluences secondary sexual character in males. Oestrogen is female sex hormone, secreted from graafian follicle and responsible for secondary sexual characters in female.   Progesterone is secreted from corpus luteum and necessary for maintenance of pregnancy. Corticosterone is secreted from adrenal gland regulates carbohydrate metabolism.
