                     Sperms of bryophytes are ciliated structures. Presence of ciliated sperms in bryophytes show its aquatic ancestory. Peristomial teeth are situated just below the operculum. They are 32 in number and arranged in two rings. These are hygroscopic and helps in dispersal of spores. Chemotaxis is movement of plant or organism due to chemical stimulus. Gametophytic plant body of bryophyte known as profonema, which forms by germination of spores.
