In photosynthesis what occurs in PS-II ?

    A)  It takes longer wavelength of light and \[{{e}^{-}}\] from \[{{H}_{2}}O\]

    B)  It takes shorter wavelength of light and \[{{e}^{-}}\] from \[{{H}_{2}}O\]

    C)   It takes longer wavelength of light and \[{{e}^{-}}\] from NADP

    D)  It takes shorter wavelength of light and \[{{e}^{-}}\] from NADP

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Oxygenic photosynthetic organism like green plants and blue-green algae have two type of photosystem called PS-1 and PS-II. In PS-I chlorophyll absorb maximum light at wavelength 700 nm. Thus reaction centre is P700 and PS-II chlorophyll absorb maximum light at wavelength 680 nm, thus reaction centre is 680- PS-II takes up electrons from water and returning to its unexcited ground state because hydrolysis of \[{{H}_{2}}O\] occurs in PSII. So photolysis of \[{{H}_{2}}O\]takes place in PS-II during light reaction of photosyntheis.
