In Hatch and Slack pathway :

    A)  chloroplast are of same type

    B)  occurs Kranz anatomy where mesophyll have small chloroplast whereas bundle sheath have granal Chloroplast

    C)  occurs in Kranz anatomy when mesophyll have small chloroplast whereas bundle sheath have larger, agranal chloroplast

    D)  Kranz anatomy where mesophyll cell are diffused

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Far red form is considered to be biologically active form and responsible for a number of physiological process like seed germination, photomorphogenesis, photoperiodism etc. Hatch and Slack discovered another alternative pathway for \[C{{O}_{2}}\] fixation called as Hatch and Slack cycle. This cycle is found in \[{{C}_{4}}\] plants. \[{{C}_{4}}\] plants shows a special type of leaf anatomy. Known as Kranz anatomy, which is characterised by the presence of large agranal chloroplast in the bundle sheath cells and small granal chloroplast in mesophyll cells. \[{{C}_{4}}\] cycle or Hatch and Slack cycle takes place in bundle sheath cells and \[{{C}_{3}}\] cycle or calvin cycle takes place in mesophyll cells.
