A coil develops heat of 800 cal/sec when 20 volts is applied across its ends. The resistance of the coil is : (1cal = 4.2 J)

    A)  0.14\[\Omega \]

    B)  0.12 \[\Omega \]

    C)  1.4\[\Omega \]

    D)  1.2\[\Omega \]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

From the relation heat developed across coil is \[H=\frac{{{V}^{2}}t}{JR}cal\] or resistance of coil \[R=\frac{{{V}^{2}}t}{JH}\] Here, \[H=800\text{ }cal/sec,\text{ }V=20\text{ }volt\] So, \[R=\frac{{{(20)}^{2}}\times 1}{4.2\times 800}=0.12ohm\]
