  • question_answer
A proton is moving with a velocity v is subjected to an electric field E and magnetic field B. The proton will remain moving without any deflection, if :

    A)  E and B both are parallel to v

    B)  E is parallel to v but perpendicular to B

    C)  E is perpendicular to B

    D)  E, v and B are mutually perpendicular to each other and \[\upsilon =\frac{1}{\sqrt{\mu \varepsilon }}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

When a proton enters into magnetic and electric field and moves without any deflection, then E, \[8.0A{{m}^{2}}\] and B are mutually perpendicular to each other. In this case, Electric force on proton = force due to magnetic field \[3\times {{10}^{-6}}C\] or      \[6\times {{10}^{-3}}N\]
