At what temperature, the speed of sound in air will become double of its value at \[27{}^\circ C\] :

    A)  \[927{}^\circ C\]

    B)  \[327{}^\circ C\]

    C)  \[54{}^\circ C\]

    D)  \[627{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Speed of sound is given by                 \[{{T}_{1}}k\] \[{{T}_{2}}k\]  \[\upsilon \propto \sqrt{T}\]             Hence, \[\frac{{{\upsilon }_{2}}}{{{\upsilon }_{1}}}=\sqrt{\frac{{{T}_{2}}}{{{T}_{1}}}}\] or  \[{{T}_{2}}={{\left( \frac{{{\upsilon }_{2}}}{{{\upsilon }_{1}}} \right)}^{2}}\times {{T}_{1}}\] or            \[{{T}_{2}}=\left( \frac{2\upsilon }{\upsilon } \right){{T}_{1}}=4\times 300\]                 \[=1200K={{927}^{o}}C\]
