    Solution :

                    Electron affinity is the amount of energy released or absorbed when an electron is added to an atom. Since every atom has a natural tendency of accepting an electron, the first electron affinity ie, electron affinity for formation of \[{{O}^{-}}\] from \[O\] is negative. But when the second electron is added to the negatively charged ion, the incoming electron experience greater repulsion due to smaller size of O atom. Thus, energy has to supplied for pushing in the second electron and second EA for O atom ie, electron affinity for the formation of \[{{O}^{2-}}\] from \[{{O}^{-}}\] is positive. Formation of \[O_{3}^{-}\] is not possible due to small size of 0 atom.
