                    Helophytes grow in marshy areas. These plants are also known as emergent hydrophytes or amphibious hydrophyte. These plants show heterophilly. The leaves which are on the surface of weter are different to those submerged leaves. The submerged leaves are filamentous type. Halophytes are sun loving plants, which show high root and shoot ratio, these are characterised by small leaves, narrow and thick internodes.    Limnophytes    are    submerged hydrophytes, not attached to substratum halophytes are called as physiological xerophytes. These are plants of salini soil.
