Meiosis involves two cell division, the first of which is heterotypic division, the second cell division is

    A)  direct cell division

    B)  reduction cell division

    C)  homoeotypic cell division

    D)  Both (a) and (b)

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Meiotic cell division (meiosis) or reductional division is completed in two phasis: Heterotypic division and Homeotypic division. During first meiotic division (kefer otypic) diploid cells are converted into haploid cells. The first heterotypic division is always followed by lind homeotypic division, During the second meiotic division (homeotypic division) the two hoploid cells formed by 1st heterotypic division divides mitotically into two cells each that is why as a result of meiotic division, four daughter cells are formed.
