For a thermocouple the neutral temperature is\[270{}^\circ C\]when its cold junction is at\[20{}^\circ C\]. What will be the neutral temperature and the temperature   of   inversion   when   the temperature of cold junction is increased to\[40{}^\circ C\]?

    A)  \[290{}^\circ C,580{}^\circ C\]

    B)  \[270{}^\circ C,580{}^\circ C\]

    C)         \[270{}^\circ C,500{}^\circ C\]

    D)  \[290{}^\circ C,540{}^\circ C\]

    E)  \[290{}^\circ C,500{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    \[2{{t}_{n}}={{t}_{0}}+{{t}_{i}}\]                                ?? (1) Neutral temperature\[({{t}_{n}})\]does not change whatever may be the change in temperature of cold junction. Now,  \[2\times 270{}^\circ =40{}^\circ +{{t}_{i}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[{{t}_{i}}=500{}^\circ C\]
