    During ventricular systole:

    A)  oxygenated blood is pumped into the pulmonary artery and deoxygenated blood is pumped into the artery

    B)  oxygenated blood is pumped into the aorta and deoxygenated blood is pumped into the pulmonary vein

    C)  oxygenated blood is pumped into the pulmonary vein and deoxygenated blood is pumped into the pulmonary artery

    D)  oxygenated blood is pumped into the aorta  and  deoxygenated blood pumped into the pulmonary artery

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

During ventricular systole oxygenated blood is pumped into the aorta and deoxygenated blood is pumped into the pulmonary artery. The beginning of ventricular systole is stimulated by AV node and rise pressure in the ventricles, when the ventricles complete their contraction, the blood flows into the pulmonary trunk and aorta as the semilunar valves open.
