    The minimum oxygen concentration at which aerobic respiration occurs is known as extinction point (i.e., 3-10% of oxygen). Just above it both aerobic and anaerobic modes of respiration operates. This phenomenon is called transition periods. Corisumption of respiratory substrate is reduced in transition period. It is called Pasteur effect.
