    Fertilization is the fusion of haploid male gamete and a haploid female gamete to form a diploid cell, the zygote, called fertilization or syngamy.   Self-fertilization   occurs   in hermaphrodite or bisexual organisms. Self-fertilization includes fusion of male and female gametes formed by the same individual. Generally cross fertilization takes place in liver fluke (Fasdola hepatica) rarely self-fertilization takes place. Fertilization is internal in liver fluke.
