Checking of reradiating heat by atmospheric dust\[{{O}_{3}}\], \[C{{O}_{2}}\]and water vapours is

    A)  green house effect

    B)  solar effect

    C)  ozone layer effect

    D)  radioactive effect

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The sunlight penetrating the atmosphere warms the earths surface. The earth surface reradiates the heat (infrared wavelengths) to the atmosphere and some escapes into space. Green-house gases and water vapour absorb some infrared wavelengths and reradiate part of them towards the earth. When green-house gases build up in the atmosphere, more heat is trapped near the earths surface. Ocean surface temperature rise, more water vapour enters the atmosphere   and   the   earths   surface temperature increases ie, called greenhouse effect. The main gases responsible for greenhouse effect are,\[C{{O}_{2}},C{{H}_{4}},CFCs,{{O}_{3}}\]etc.
