  • question_answer
The polarizing angle of glass is \[{{57}^{o}}\]. A ray of light which is incident at this angle will have an angle of refraction as

    A) \[{{33}^{o}}\]

    B) \[{{38}^{o}}\]

    C) \[{{25}^{o}}\]

    D) \[{{43}^{o}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

: As the ray of light is incident at glass at polarizing angle \[({{i}_{p}})\], so the reflected and refracted rays are perpendicular to each other. If r is the angle of refraction, then \[{{i}_{p}}+r={{90}^{o}}\] \[r={{90}^{o}}-{{i}_{p}}\] Here, \[{{i}_{p}}={{57}^{o}}\] \[\therefore \] \[r={{90}^{o}}-{{57}^{o}}={{33}^{o}}\]
