    Pinus Is monoecious which bears male cone as well as female cone on the same tree on separate brandies. Pinus is heterosporous which produces two types of spores. ie, microspores (pollen grains) and megaspores (embryo sac). Male cones are borne in a cluster on a branch of unlimited growth behind the  apical bud in the axil of a scale leaf. Female cones or ovulate strobilus or female strobilus arise the axis of scale leaves on the branches of unlimited growth that lack male cones.
