Correct Answer: A
Solution :
Vitamin-A or retinol is a fat-soluble vitamin. The basic function of this vitamin in body metabolism is not known except that it participates in the composition of visual (= retinol) pigments. Animals synthesize it in liver and cells of intestinal mucous membrane from yellow and red carotenoid pigments obtained from carrots, spinach, apricot etc. Its excess is stored in liver cells. One can obtain it from milk, butter, kidneys, egg yolk, liver, fish oil. etc. In its deficiency, conjunctiva and cornea of eyes becomes dry, keratinized (xerophthalmia) and opaque. Hence, patient fails to see in dim light and twilight (night blindness). You need to login to perform this action.
