Three fair dice are thrown simultaneousIy. What is the probability that the sum of numbers on their tops, is at least 6?

    A) \[\frac{5}{108}\]

    B)        \[\frac{1}{24}\]

    C) \[\frac{103}{108}\]

    D)        \[\frac{17}{18}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Sol. [c]
Total number of outcomes when three dice are thrown simultaneously = 216
    \[\therefore \]Number of unfavorable outcome = 10
    (1, 1, 1,) (1, 1, 2) (1, 2, 1) (2, 1, 1) (1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 1) (2, 1, 2) (1, 3, 1) (3, 1, 1) (1, 1, 3)
\[\therefore \] Number of favorable outcome
    =216-10=206
\[\therefore \] Probability of getting sum at least
    \[6=\,\frac{206}{216}\,=\,\frac{103}{108}\]
