Flowers   are   typically   penta-merous, gamopetalous, bisexual, epigynous with definite number of stmens ie, 5 and carpels ie (2). Anthers are two celled, introse, united laterally into a tube (syngenesious). Protection of floral buds by the involucre of bracts. Calyx is rudimentary or absent, modified into a large number of bristles or hairs-like structures called the Pappus, which acts like parachute in dispersal of fruits.
