Unwinding of DNA is done by :

    A)  topoisomerase

    B)  exonuclease

    C)  helicase

    D)  ligase

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Unwinding of DNA is done by DNA helicase enzyme. Exonuclease is an enzyme, which digests DNA or RNA molecules beginning at their ends. Ligase enzyme are capable of catalyzing phosphodiester bond formation between free 3- OH and free 5- P groups of a nick of DNA which is created by endonuclease enzyme, thereby restoring an antact DNA duplex. Topoisomerase is an enzyme that can induce or relax supercoils in DNA i.e., change the linking number of a DNA molecule.
