    Mongoloid condition is related with:

    A)  Nullisomy

    B)  monosomy

    C)  trisomy

    D)  autosomy

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Mongoloid condition is related with 21st trisomy. Downs syndrome is characterised by 21st trisomy which is common in children and is characterised by mental retardation, a short body, swollen tongues and eyelid folds resembling those of mongolian races. Turners syndrome (44+X) is monosomy. Monosomic is an aneuploid in which a chromosome is deficient of its homologue causing genetic imbalance resulting in weaker than normal form. Monosomic is formed by the union of deficient gamete (\[n\]-1) and normal gamete. Nullisomic is an aneuploid in which a pair of homologous chromosomes is deficient (2\[n\]-2) resulting in absence of certain genes. It is produced by the union of two gametes deficient   in   the   same   chromosome \[(n-1)\times (n-1)\].
