    The volume of 2.8 g of CO at \[{{27}^{o}}C\] and 0.821 atm pressure is: (R = 0.0821 L atm \[mol\,{{s}^{-1}}{{K}^{-1}}\])

    A)  30 mL

    B)  3L

    C)  0.3 L

    D)  1.5 L

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Key Idea: First find the volume by using formula PV = RT then find the volume of 2.8 g of CO by using mole concept. Given, R = 0.0821 L atom \[mo{{l}^{-1}}{{K}^{-1}}\] \[T={{27}^{o}}C=27+273=300\,K\] P = 0.821 atm PV = RT or \[V=\frac{RT}{P}=\frac{0.0821\times 300}{0.821}\] or \[v=30\,L\] \[\because \] 28 g (= molecular weight of CO) of CO occupy volume = 30 L \[\therefore \] 2.8 g of CO occupy volume \[=\frac{30}{28}\times 2.8\] = 3 L
