Endoplasmic reticulum is studied with :

    A)  ribosomes

    B)  lysosomes

    C)  glyoxisomes

    D)  microsomes

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

When tissue or cells are disrupted by homogcnistion the ER is fragmented into many small vesicles called microsomes. Rough microsomes are derived from rough ER whereas smooth microsomes are derived from smooth ER. Ribosomes are ribonucleoprotein particles. These are attached to the endoplasmic reticulum through glycoprotin called ribophorins. Lysosomes are the spherical ting sacs bounded by single membrane. These are reservoirs of hydrolytic enzymes used for the controlled intracellular digestion of macromolecules. Glyoxysomes are so called because these contain enzymes for glyoxylate cycle through which fats are converted into carbohydrates.
