Biological species concept emphasizes on :

    A)  geographical isolation

    B)  reproductive isolation

    C)  physiological isolation

    D)  none of the above

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

According to Biological species concept a species is a group of similar individuals that can reproduce with each other but cannot reproduce with individuals of other groups. i.e., reproductively isolated. Reproductive isolation acts to prevent or reduce interbreeding among members of closely related population of species. In geographical isolation two populations of same species are separated by some physical or geographical barriers. It plays an important role in allopatric isolation. Certain species are established only on the basis of some physiological differences developed between them, i.e., physiological isolation.
