A cell active in protein synthesis will rich in :

    A)  ribosome

    B)  Golgi bodies

    C)  mitochondria

    D)  lysosome

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Ribosomes are ribonucleoprotem particles. These are site of protein synthesis, therefore, the cell active in protein synthesis will be rich in ribosomes. There are two types of ribosomes-70S type (in prokaryotic cell, mitochondria and chloroplast) and 80S type (in eukaryotic cell). Mitochondria is called power house of the cell because the electron transport chain for the synthesis of ATP (oxidative phosphorylation) takes place in inner membrane of this. Golgi bodies are made up of cistemae, vesicles and tubules and concerned mainly with secretion, cell plate formation, acrosome formation during spermatogenesis. Lysosomes are spherical bodies enclosed by single unit membrane and containing a number of hydrolytic enzymes, that are active at an acid pH 5.
