  • question_answer
A black body is heated from \[{{27}^{o}}C\] to \[{{927}^{o}}C\]. The ratio of radiations emitted will be :

    A)  \[1:256\]

    B)  \[1:64\]

    C)  \[1:4\]

    D)  \[1:16\]1

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

From Stefans law, the total radiant energy emitted per second per unit surface area of a black body is proportional to the fourth power of the absolute temperature (T) of the body. i.e., \[E=\sigma {{T}^{4}}\] where o is Stefans constant. Given, \[{{T}_{1}}={{27}^{o}}C=27+273=300\,K\], \[{{T}_{2}}={{927}^{o}}C=1200\,K\] \[\therefore \] \[\frac{{{E}_{1}}}{{{E}_{2}}}=\frac{{{(300)}^{4}}}{{{(1200)}^{4}}}=\frac{1}{256}\]
