    Bacteria do not have :

    A)  ribosome

    B)  protein synthesizing apparatus

    C)  mitochondria

    D)  cell wall

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Bacteria represent a prokaryotic cell i.e., lacks nuclear membrane and membrane bound cell organelles like mitochondria, chloroplast, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi body etc. The cell wall of bacteria is rigid, strong and made up of polysaccharides, proteins and lipids. The cell wall has two important sugar derivatives i.e., NAG (N-acetyl glucosamine) and NAM (N-aceryl muramic acid). Ribosomes in bacteria are 70S type and found in the form of polyribosome. Ribosomes are ribonucleoprotein particles. Both transcription and translation takes place in cytoplasm of bacterial cell, as the nucleus is absent.
