An increase in pressure would favour the following reaction :

    A)  \[{{N}_{2}}{{O}_{4}}2N{{O}_{2}}\]

    B)  \[2S{{O}_{2}}+{{O}_{2}}2S{{O}_{3}}\]

    C)  \[{{N}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}2NO\]

    D)  \[{{H}_{2}}+{{I}_{2}}2HI\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

\[\begin{align}   & 2S{{O}_{2}}+{{O}_{2}}\xrightarrow{{}}\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,2S{{O}_{3}} \\  & 2\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,+\,\,\text{1= 3}\,\text{moles}\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\text{2}\,\text{moles} \\ \end{align}\] In the above reaction number reactants has 3 moles and products has 2 moles. So, volume or number of moles decreases in the forward direction. Hence, increase in pressure will favour the reaction in forward direction.
