Which one of the following statements is not correct?

    A)  The conductivity decreases from \[\text{Li}\]to \[\text{C}{{\text{s}}^{+}}\]in the hydrated ions.

    B)  The stability of +5 oxidation state  decreases from nitrogen to bismuth.

    C)  In HalFs process, bauxite is fuse with \[\text{N}{{\text{a}}_{\text{2}}}\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}\text{.}\]

    D)  The atomic radius in IIIA group elements  increases from boron to aluminium and thereafter remains constant up to gallium.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The conductivity of an ion depends upon its size as follows: \[\text{Conductivity}\propto \frac{\text{1}}{\text{ionic}\,\text{size}}\] In aqueous solution, \[\text{L}{{\text{i}}^{\text{+}}}\,\text{ion}\]is extensively hydrated. Hence, \[\text{L}{{\text{i}}^{\text{+}}}\,\,\text{ion}\]has the largest hydrated ionic radius. The hydrated ionic radius decreases down the group, ie, it decreases from \[\text{L}{{\text{i}}^{\text{+}}}\,\]to \[\text{C}{{\text{s}}^{+}}\,.\]Therefore, in hydrated ions, the conductivity increases from\[\text{L}{{\text{i}}^{\text{+}}}\]to \[\text{C}{{\text{s}}^{+}}.\]
