The equation of a particle executing simple harmonic motion is: \[y=10\sin \left( \frac{\pi }{2}t+\frac{\pi }{6} \right)cms.\] The time period of simple harmonic motion is:

    A)  6 s

    B)  4 s

    C) \[\frac{\pi }{3}s\]

    D) \[\frac{\pi }{2}s\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                    The standard equation of a body executing SHM with amplitude a is \[y=a\sin \left( \frac{\pi }{2}t+\frac{\pi }{6} \right)\]             ... (i) where\[\omega \]is angular velocity,\[\phi \]the phase. Given equation is \[y=10\sin \left( \frac{\pi }{2}t+\frac{\pi }{6} \right)\]             ...(ii) Comparing Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get Also,             \[\omega =\frac{2\pi }{T}\]                 \[\frac{2\pi }{T}=\frac{\pi }{2}\] \[\therefore \]  \[T=4\,s\]
