  • question_answer
If a given sample of water contains 0.06 g of\[C{{a}^{2+}}\]ion per kg, calculate the ppm level of\[C{{a}^{2+}}\]ions:

    A)  0.6

    B)  60

    C)  6

    D)  600

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                    Water contains\[C{{a}^{2+}}=\]0.06 g per kg          = 0.06 g per 103 g Amount of\[C{{a}^{2+}}\]ion per 106 g water                                                 \[=\frac{0.06}{{{10}^{3}}}\times {{10}^{6}}\] \[=0.06\times {{10}^{3}}=60g\] Hence, the ppm level of\[C{{a}^{2+}}\]ions is 60.
