    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Soft-rot disease of sweet potato is caused by Rhizopus stolonifer. This is a very destructive disease. It is prevalent in almost all sweet potato growing states of India, such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.                 The fungus causing the disease has been found to survive on affected and left over tuberous roots in the field or store house and serves as effective source of inoculum for the initiation of disease in the subsequent seasons.
