  • question_answer
If \[p\] and \[q\] are the roots of the equation\[{{x}^{2}}+px+q=0\], thus:

    A)  \[p=1\]or\[0\]

    B) \[p=-2\]or\[0\]

    C)  \[p=-2\]

    D)  \[p=1\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Since, \[p\] and \[q\] are the roots of the equation                 \[{{x}^{2}}+px+q=0\] \[\therefore \]  \[p+q=-p\]and\[pq=q\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[2p+q=0\]and\[q(p-1)=0\] If             \[q=0,\] then\[p=0\] If             \[p=1,\]then\[q=-2\] \[\therefore \]  \[p=1\]or\[0\]
