JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-1996

  • question_answer
A flask containing air at \[27{}^\circ \] at atmosphere pressure is corked up. A pressure of 2.5 at m would force the cork out, the temperature at which it happen is :

    A)  620 K

    B)  750 K

    C)  \[67.5{}^\circ C\]

    D)         \[577{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Applying Charles law at constant volume P is proportional to temperature, when pressure becomes 2.5 times. The temperature also becomes 2.5 times, hence    \[T=2.5(27+273)=2.5\times 300=750\,K\]
