The power of water pump is 4 kW. The volume of water it can raise in one minute to a height of: (Assume \[g=10\,m/{{s}^{2}}\])

    A)  \[4\,{{m}^{3}}\]

    B)  \[0.1\,{{m}^{3}}\]

    C)  \[2.0\,{{m}^{3}}\]

    D)         \[2.4\,{{m}^{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Power of pump = 4000 watt, \[g=10\,m\text{/}{{s}^{2}},\] \[h=10\,m,\] \[t=60\,\sec \] \[P=\frac{mgh}{t}\]or \[m=\frac{Pt}{gh}\] \[m=\frac{4000\times 60}{10\times 10}=2400\,kg\] Now, volume\[=\frac{\text{mass}}{\text{density}}=\frac{2400}{1000}=2.4\,{{m}^{3}}\]
