JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2004

  • question_answer
The equilvalent resistance and potential difference between A and B for the circuit 60 is respectively :

    A)  4\[\Omega \] 8 V

    B)                                        8 \[\Omega \] 4 V

    C)         2 \[\Omega \] 2V

    D)         16 \[\Omega \]8V

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The equivalent resistance between A and B is \[\frac{1}{R}=\frac{1}{6}+\frac{1}{6}+\frac{1}{3}=\frac{2}{3}\] or            \[R=\frac{3}{2}=1.5\,\Omega \] Now the equivalent resistance between A and B is \[R=1.5+2.5=4\,\Omega \] Now by Ohms law, potential difference between A and B is given by \[{{V}_{A}}-{{V}_{B}}=iR=2\times 4.0\] \[=8\,volt\]
