JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2010

  • question_answer
A black body has a wavelength of \[\lambda \] at temperature 2000 K. Its corresponding wavelength at temperature 3000 K will be

    A)  \[\frac{2\lambda }{3}\]

    B)                         \[\frac{3\lambda }{2}\]

    C)  \[\frac{4\lambda }{9}\]

    D)         \[\frac{9\lambda }{4}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    According to Wiens displacement law, \[{{\lambda }_{m}}T=\]constant or            \[\frac{{{\lambda }_{2}}}{{{\lambda }_{1}}}=\frac{{{T}_{1}}}{{{T}_{2}}}\] \[\therefore \]  \[\frac{{{\lambda }_{2}}}{\lambda }=\frac{2000}{3000}=\frac{2}{3}\] or            \[{{\lambda }_{2}}=\frac{2}{3}\lambda \]
