JIPMER Jipmer Medical Solved Paper-2014

  • question_answer
50 g ice at \[0{}^\circ C\] in insulator vessel, 50 g water of \[100{}^\circ C\] is mixed in it, then final temperature of the mixture is (neglect the heat loss)

    A)  \[10{}^\circ C\]

    B)         \[0{}^\circ C<<{{T}_{m}}<20{}^\circ C\]

    C)  \[20{}^\circ C\]

    D)         above \[20{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    From, Heat transfer principle, Heat given = Heat taken {Neglecting heat losses} \[{{m}_{1}}{{s}_{1}}(100-t)={{m}_{2}}L+{{m}_{2}}{{s}_{2}}(t-0)\] \[50\times 1\,(100-t)=50\times 80+50\times 1\,(t-0)\] \[5000-50\,t=4000+50\,t\]    \[t=\frac{1000}{100}=10\] Final   temp\[t=10{}^\circ C\].
