  • question_answer
A body cools from\[60{}^\circ C\]to\[50{}^\circ C\]in 10 minutes. If the room temperature is\[25{}^\circ C\] and assuming newtons law of cooling to hold good, the temperature of the body at the end of the next 10 minutes will be:

    A)  \[45{}^\circ C\]

    B)  \[42.85{}^\circ C\]

    C)  \[40{}^\circ C\]

    D)  \[38.5{}^\circ C\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

     Using the relation Rate of loss of heat\[\propto \theta -{{\theta }_{D}}\] Where\[\theta \]is the average temperature in the given time interval. So, \[\frac{{{M}_{c}}(60{}^\circ -50{}^\circ )}{10}\propto \left( \frac{60{}^\circ +50{}^\circ }{2}-25{}^\circ  \right)\] On solving we get \[\theta =42.85{}^\circ C\]
