  • question_answer
Three tubes A, B and C are connected to a horizontal pipe in which liquid is flowing. The radii of pipe at the joints of A, B, and C are 2 cm, 1 cm and 2 cm respectively. The height of liquid

    A) inlands is equal

    B) in A is maximum

    C) in A and C is same

    D) is same in all three

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

The tubes A and C are connected to a tube of same area of cross-section and the liquid flowing there will have same velocity, hence the height of liquid in A and C will be same. Since, tube B is connected to a tube of smaller area of cross-section, therefore the liquid is flowing faster in this tube and pressure there is less according to Bernoulli's theorem.
