MGIMS WARDHA MGIMS WARDHA Solved Paper-2004

  • question_answer
A capacitor of capacitance 6 \[\mu F\] is charged upto 100 volt. The energy stored in the capacitor is :

    A) 0.6 joule

    B) 0.06 joule

    C) 0.03 joule

    D) 0.3 joule

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    The energy stored in the capacitor is given by \[U=\frac{1}{2}C{{V}^{2}}\] Given: \[C=6\times {{10}^{-6}}F,V=100\,volt\] So,          \[U=\frac{1}{2}\times 6\times {{10}^{-6}}\times {{(100)}^{2}}\]                 \[=3\times {{10}^{-2}}J\] \[=0.03J\]
