MGIMS WARDHA MGIMS WARDHA Solved Paper-2010

  • question_answer
A transformer of 100% efficiency has 200rums in the primary and 40000 turns in secondary. It is connected to a 220 V main supply and secondary feeds to a 100\[K\Omega \] resistance. The potential difference per turn is

    A)  1.1V

    B)  25V

    C)   18V

    D)  11 V

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                     From transformer ratio \[\frac{{{V}_{s}}}{{{V}_{p}}}=\frac{{{N}_{s}}}{{{N}_{p}}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[{{V}_{s}}=\frac{{{V}_{p}}\times {{N}_{s}}}{{{N}_{p}}}\] \[=\frac{220V\times 40000}{200}=44000\,V\] Potential difference per turn is \[\frac{{{V}_{s}}}{{{N}_{s}}}=\frac{44000V}{40000}=1.1\,V\]
